We are pleased to present a new release of Communote – Enterprise Microblogging – to you. A lot of interesting new features are waiting for you. The highlight of our new version is the Communote integration for Microsoft SharePoint 2010 and Atlassian Confluence. In addition, we have redesigned the service area. Furthermore, we are now offering access to our brand ne Communote Support portal. In the administration we have improved the management features for external users. Besides our proven support of open source databases MySQL and PostgreSQL, Communote now also supports Oracle and Microsoft SQL databases.
Tags for People profils
In Communote there are tags (keywords) in messages and topics (blogs) and now also in user profiles. By this means you can find experts in your organisation even better. Now, users can enter tags in their own user profiles to describe their interst and skills.

Trending Tags and Authors
From now on, Communote shows in the tagcloud trend tags and authors from the last 1,000 messages. This provides a better overview of current trends and active users.
iPad and Tablet Support
The use of tablets gets more and more important in companies these days. Now Communote not only supports tablets through the available app for iPhone, iPad and Android. Also, the complete Communote web interface is compatible for iPad and other tablets.
Thus, you have complete mobile access to all Communote functionalities.
Renaming
In the new Communote version, we have done some renaming to clearify functionality. Blogs are renamed into ‘topics’. This suits very well, since Communote is all about topics. ’Bookmark’ also expresses ‘favor’ in a more clear way.
New Integration for Microsoft SharePoint 2010 and Atlassian Confluence
The Communote integration enables a direct link from Microsoft SharePoint 2010 and Atlassian Confluence to Communote.
With parameter settings different representations of the Communote widget (e.g. display of individual topics and Communote filtering) can be selected.
By using the Communote Widget, the missing social communication is added to your SharePoint or wiki page. Users can read and write messages about Communote topics. Another use case is the creation of dashboards with e.g. spezial filtered messages .
Thus Communote can be used as a continuous communication channel. This makes it easy to communicate and collaborate within your company.
Communote Supportportal
We have redesigned our ‘service area’ in Communote. Here you can find Communote tools such as bookmarklet, desktop client, mobile access, documentation, terms of use and contact information.
On our new Communote support portal you have full access to documentation including quick-start guides and video tutorials. Support requests can now be sent directly to us. With the appropriate registration, you have access to our ticket system JIRA and an actual overview of support requests.
New administrative configuration
In our administration area there are new configuration options for administrators of Communote.
With the new version you have the option to configure the standard view. This setting allows the Administrator to choose between the ‘All Notes’ or the ‘Following’ tab as standard view for all users.

The public topic (blog) is now treated as a ‘normal’ topic just like any other. Any topic can now be selected as the ‘standard topic’.
With the default topic Communote user can directly write Notes into the preselected topic.
It is becoming more and more important to include external user like customers or partners in the communication flow. Communote now offers enhanced opportunities to handle ‘external’ users. In the new version the simultaneous use of different authentification types including LDAP, MS Sharepoint, Atlassian Confluence and Communote are supported. That allows to connect users appropriate to Communote.
Other technical enhancements are the support of Oracle and Microsoft SQL databases and the connection of external tag stores. Actually, we are working on a single-sign-on solution for the upcoming Communote version 2.2.
The release of the new version will take place in a few days. Customers of our Online Service will be informed by e-mail. An update for our licence customers will be available shortly as Download for Inhouse Installation.

Communote 2.0 – new Interface, new Functions.
Today, we are proud to present you today the new release of Communote. It has never been easier to share status reports, to follow topics, network with co-workers and to communicate securely.
Communote is much more than just an Enterprise “Facebook” or “Twitter.” Beyond the known functions of the social networks, Communote is the ideal means of communication in teams and distributed enterprises. Information can be shared in closed groups and provided with tags. So the message reaches the right audience and because of extensive filtering options, such as themes, tags , people and content types, such as documents, images, links and videos, it quickly found again.
A Preview of Communote 2.0
We are pleased to introduce a new Communote version soon. With the new release 2.0 a new user interface with many new added features can facilitate communication within the company. In the following we would like to present some selected innovations.
People overview
In the top menu bar you can find the tab “persons”. Inside the bar all in your Communote registered people are arranged in an alphabetically order. There you can see what people you follow. You can also use the people overview in order to change this setting.
Blog overview
Similar to the people overview you can find inside the tab “blogs ” all created blogs to which you have access. There you can also choose whether you want to follow the blog. The blogs are also listed alphabetically.
Images/video inline
Images and videos can continue to append your messages. Images are now even displayed under your text. The video (e.g. youtube, vimeo) is shown, and can be directly played from your Communote page.
Like function
Simply click with your mouse on one of your favorite posts. Under the message appears a new menu bar. Now you can show to all other users that you like this post by clicking on “Like”. After that a heart symbol appears next to the post .
Content filtering
To retrieve more information you can specify the medium, you seek, in the content filtering. Subsequently only messages with the selected media will be displayed.
Desktop client
Using the desktop client, new posts appear on the desktop. He is linked to Communote, and works cross-platform with Adobe Air.
Further improvements
With the new Communote release there are an auto-refresh the page and a bookmarklet as well. Mobile Apps for iPhone, Android (in near future) and Blackberry are also available.
